You can find the quote in the 18th Chapter, and verse 3 ...of the Gospel According to Matthew.

"Verily, I say unto you, except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven." ...as words by Jesus, much has been said about these verses, and much more could be said.

But, first I want to list a few other verses.

Romans 8:14, reads, "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God."

Ephesians 3:5, reads, "Which in other ages, was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto His holy apostles and prophets, by the Spirit."

Philippians 2:15, reads, "That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world."

I John 3:1, reads, "Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God ..."

Little children often ask many questions ...

...and often we adults feel obliged as Dads & Moms to guide our children in this world, though obligation does not necessarily help with providing the most satisfactory answers.

It is kind of like the story you may have attempted to tell ...of "the birds and the bees".  Or perhaps one parent defers to the other, "Why don't you ask your mother that question ...she has good answers."

I've been asked many good questions by children, and I don't feel I need to immediately come up with the answers ...because I am not primarily the teacher.  I am a child too.  I am a child of God.  And I want to go to what He says.

The Book of Job provides a bit of understanding about things, that are unique to that Book.  And there are certain parts of the Bible that parents may want to avoid, and I think, for good reason.  We don't want to immediately want to get into the horrid details of much of the evil ...but, it is unavoidable, as the crucifixion of Jesus is crucial to anyone's understanding of the sacrifice for our sake.

So, yes, we do talk much about Jesus ...but, we do like to talk about other commonly told stories also: like the Creation, Noah's ark, Daniel in the lion's den, and David vs Goliath.

But, in avoiding much of the other parts of the Book of Job, how refreshing to be able to also talk about God's creative purposes ...and Chapter 38, verse 7, with all the sons of God singing for joy.

Child: Who are the sons of God?

Parent: That would be the angels. They sang at the Creation.

Child: When were the angels created?

Parent:  Within the six days of Creation.

Child:  How many days did they sing?

Parent: What do you mean?

Child:  If they sang at Creation, which day were they created?

Parent:  The Bible doesn't say.

Child:  Why doesn't it say?  It says when the plants were created ...and the trees.  It says when the birds and fish were created.  It says when animals, and even creepy things were created.  Why doesn't it say when the sons of God were created?  If the angels are sons of God, why aren't they important enough to be mentioned?

(Parent is silent.)

Child: And  you also said they all sang ...so, does that mean that Lucifer sang?

Parent:  That's good.  You remembered that Satan's name was Lucifer, before he became a fallen angel.

Child:  Yes, and I know he's also called the devil ...and he was the serpent in the Garden of Eden.  But, if he sang at Creation, why was it not important enough to mention that he also got tossed out of heaven?  Wouldn't that be an important event ...as big as Adam & Eve having to leave the Garden of Eden?  Not mentioning Lucifer's attempt to take over heaven would be like watching Star Wars, and not mentioning anything about Darth Vader.

Parent: The devil is mentioned.

Child: But, we know more about Darth Vader and the First Order than we do about the devil.

Parent:  I told you that you watch too much TV ...you are getting your stories all mixed up.

Child: I thought you liked Netflix ...and all the shows we get to see?

Parent: Well, that's true ...but it's not right if we can't keep straight what is true, and what's not.

Child:  That's why I'm asking you so many questions.  But, I didn't think it was going to upset you.

(Parent realizes they too were once a child, and perhaps didn't ask as many questions ...so, maybe the parent doesn't know as much as they thought they did.)

When we realize that we often didn't ask questions ...perhaps we didn't understand it as much because we didn't ask.

And yes, we can also ask God to give us more understanding.

We can pray.

We can wait for the Holy Spirit to lead us to understanding.

There is a problem though.

Often we get a bit confused by whether it is the Holy Spirit leading us ...or perhaps a bit of our excitement & eagerness can influence our beliefs.

Do we believe somewhat what we want to believe??

I believe God provided us with something to help us in not going too far with this ...and it's called the Bible, or God's Word.

(***After listening to a child, then reading again afresh the Bible, there seems to be good reason to believe that the angels were created before ...and the third breaching their loyalty to their Creator, happened before our six-day Creation (which we read about at the beginning of Genesis).  And the end of the angel rebellion could have been "it's lights out" ...as the saying goes.  With the angels singing at the beginning of Creation when the lights were once again restored.

And though God would not necessarily have an affinity to certain patterns within His infinity of creativeness, God does seem to hold to certain patterns seemingly for our benefit ...as we more easily relate to them.  And one of those patterns could be that God could have forbidden Satan to consume one man, Adam, with his subtle divisive thoughts ...as God also forbade Adam to consume one fruit. A limitation for each.

Consider Adam & Eve being sent from the Garden of Eden as the first missionaries of God.  And as missionaries often also teach a trade, Adam could have taught cultivation and farming, among other things, along with his testimony about God.  Those who believed Adam would likely live by a higher standard ...and be considered followers.  While others may be caught up in the beauty of many wayward ways and temptations ...as we are today.  As Jesus later said, it will be like it was in the time of Noah. I am not of the opinion that angels ever mated with humans.  And if so, it would be asked whether angels could be drowned ...(and whether that would be like the Wizard of Oz with the wicked witch wailing, "I'm melting, I'm melting!!", or like the witch trials of the late 1600s, or even earlier in the 1500s with near drowning proving innocence.)  And if angels mated, were they required to admit they were angels ...and obviously, it would be the fallen angels, but why a judgment upon humans who die in a flood, when we know the fallen angel's leader did not die in the flood (as he has been quite active, and tempted also Jesus in the desert).

I believe the sons of God ...are the loyal two-thirds, and also those of us who follow God, both angels and humans with the ability to know God.  And I favor believing the human believers were marrying those other humans who lived the seductive immoral ways, opposed to God's direction (as is also today).

So much to think about ...and though I'd never want to take God's Word for something it's not, it seems that in many ways we have already done this through the ages.  So, looking to what it means today, should have no less joy than it did all those years in the past. And if we don't imagine beyond the truth, but stick to what the Bible says ...so much more can still come alive, as it often does through the eyes of a child. ***)

One final note:  If there are writings that we feel are not authentic enough to be in the Bible, then why would we formulate some of our beliefs around those other descriptions that are not written in the Bible??
